Fifth Day of Work – Assessing the Meeting

The fifth day of the project meeting was dedicated to the assessment of the activities unfolded during the stay in Lithuania.

The project team designed a questionnaire, which was then filled-in by the people present at the Lithuanian meeting.  The results were analysed while the weak and strong points of each activity were discussed by all project participants.

We did a short review of the activities to be done until the meeting in Carsamba, Turkey.

Certificates of attendance were given to all the participants and the farewell speeches were delivered.

The host prepared a nice farewell dinner for the guests, with local dishes and music.

All visiting teams departed on September 19th,  2015.

The fourth day of the Project Meeting in Lithuania was dedicated to planning the next project meetings, especially the one to take place in Carsamba (Turkey), in October 2015. We discussed about the activities to be done with the students until the meeting and what to do once in Carsamba.

The project teams decided upon the following activities:

1.PowerPoint presentations about the traditional costumes worn in each project country; the presentations would be used as a basis for creating a booklet on traditional fashion in Romania, Turkey, Portugal and Lithuania.

2.PowerPoint presentations and videos about the social characteristics of the project countries.

3.Final draft of the multi-lingual dictionary.

4. Turkish language classes to be attended in Turkey.

5.Gather more information on Turkey with the help of multimedia.

Various aspects of the intellectual output were reviewed and new information was added.

The third day (September, 16th, 2015) of our Project Meeting in Lithuania was a very special one, because it gave us the opportunity to meet the administrative officials of the host city.

We visited certain parts of the city hall and the administrative staff explained us the development of Siauliai, after the fall of The Soviet Union. We found out that Siauliai is a modern city which has much to offer to its inhabitants.

The second half of the working day was dedicated to the intellectual output. Each team presented the work done on the following chapters: introduction, review of national and international literature on stereotypes and analysis of the stereotypes questionnaire. The project partners analysed each other’s work and traced the steps to be followed next.

Time was also spent on planning the next project meetings and the sub-topics for each of the following meetings; an utmost attention was given to the students’ mobilities and to the activities to be done during the October meeting in Carsamba.

The day ended with a long tour around Siauliai, during which the hosts explained the myths and the legends associated with “The Sun City”.

The presentations were analysed and the discussion moved forward to the image that the Romanian, Portuguese and Turkish people have about Lithuania.

Each team presented the specific activities done at a school level in order to overcome the stereotypes identified during the first stage of our project.

The intellectual output was also brought into discussion during the afternoon work session. The discussion focused around the problems that the partners encountered while performing the research work or when analysing the results of the questionnaires.

The second day ended with a short, but pleasant tour around the parks of Siauliai.

The third Project Meeting took place in the picturesques city of Siauliai (Lithuania) between September 14th 2015 and September 18th 2015.

The project teams from Romania, Portugal and Turkey arrived in the city of Siauliai, in the late-afternoon of the previous day (September 13th, 2015).

The morning of the 14th of September 2015 was a very pleasant one for the visitors, who were welcomed in a kind manner by the students, teachers and teaching staff of the Lithuanian Sports School.

At 10 o’clock sharp, the project teams arrived at the Siauliai Sports Secondary School. The School Mascot was waiting for the guests at the entrance together with two beautiful students, wearing the traditional Lithuanian attire. The girls welcomed the visitors with black bread and salt – a symbol of the Lithuanian hospitality.

The host project team accompanied the other teams while visiting the school and its premises. The teachers and the teaching staff from Romania, Turkey and Portugal had the opportunity to see modern equipped classrooms, school corridors filled with pictures and students’ works and variuos facilities designed to help students feel better while studying at Siauliai Sports Secondary School (e.g. Sports Hall and cafeteria).

The school principal greeted the visiting partners and wished everybody a fruitful work session and a pleasant stay in Lithuania.

All project teams went to the classroom which the guests had previously arranged for the project meeting. It was a pleasant and furitful work session during which were discussed the following aspects: activities to be unfolded during the stay in Lithuanian and a short analysis of the daily schedule proposed by the hosting team.
