FIFTH DAY – PROJECT EVALUATION

The fifth day of the meeting (June, 3rd, 2016) was spent making and filling the evaluation form of the project. The results were then analysed, as well as the strong and the weak points of the meeting. Ideas were brought forward about what could be improved and suggestions were made for future projects.

The teams also discussed and evaluated the project as a whole and the last details concerning the intellectual output were establish.

In the afternoon, the partners had the opportunity to attend the festivities organized to celebrate the Medas school day. The Portuguese teachers and students prepared numerous cultural activities and the visitors tasted traditional Portuguese dishes. The evening ended with a pleasat tour of Oporto.

FOURTH DAY – MOBILITY TOOL

The fourth day of the project meeting (June, 2nd, 2016) was dedicated to discussing the project website, its structure, the information it needed to contain and the updated to be added. The suggestions made by each team were taken into consideration and the changes were done by the Romanian partners, who administer the site.

The afternoon was spent discussing the features and proper use of the mobility tool. The teams discussed and worked together. The Portuguese team also presented the project booklet, uploaded on the Joomag platform.

THIRD DAY – ANALYZING LESSON PLANS AND LESSONS

The third day of the project meeting (June, 1st, 2016) was dedicated to analyzing the learning sequences unfolded on the basis of the lesson plans provided by the project partners. Each team described how the lesson took place, the students’ reactions and the outcome. It was observed that these specific learning activities contributed a lot to breaking national stereotypes. They also stirred the interest of the target audience, the young people showing an increase desire to find out more about the project countries.

The last touches were added to the calendar made by the Portuguese team. The intellectual output was also brought into discussion and the conclusions were drawn.

In the afternoon, the students with disabilities, studying at the Portuguese school came to meet the project teams They asked each participant to write down into a notebook the impression Portugal had upon them.

SECOND DAY – DICTIONARY AND PRESENTATION ANALYSIS

The second day of the meeting (May, 31st, 2016) was dedicated to analyzing the impact and useful of the language dictionary and of the presentations done during the past two years.

Each team designated a member who was recorded while pronouncing correctly the words in his/her language so as to create a tool which would be successfully used by all those interested.

The rest of the day was spent discussing about the impact of the project videos and presentations on the teachers and students belonging to the partner schools. It was pointed out that due to them the target audience gained more information and knowledge on the countries involved in the project.

FIRST DAY – WELCOME TO AGRUPAMENTO DE ESCOLAS À BEIRA DOURO

The last, but not the most important transnational meeting of the project took place between May 30th and June 3rd, 2016, in the little town of Medas, Portugal.

It was a fruitful week, during which the partners discussed the unfolding of the project, the problems they encountered while implementing the activities and the results of their fight against national stereotypes.

The first day of the project meeting (May, 30th) began early in the morning, with the Romanian, Turkish and Lithuanian teams arriving at Agrupamento de Escolas a Beira Douro. They were welcomed by the Portuguese teachers and students. After meeting the principal and making the school tour, the teams headed for the classroom especially arranged for the project activities. The day was spent analyzing the project and the activities needed to be done during the following days.

The cultural part implied the visiting of a small, but well-preserved museum, located in the heart of Medas. The partners had the opportunity to find out more about the culture, history and geography of the place.

Fifth Day of Work – Assessing the Meeting

The fifth day of the project meeting was dedicated to the assessment of the activities unfolded during the stay in Lithuania.

The project team designed a questionnaire, which was then filled-in by the people present at the Lithuanian meeting.  The results were analysed while the weak and strong points of each activity were discussed by all project participants.

We did a short review of the activities to be done until the meeting in Carsamba, Turkey.

Certificates of attendance were given to all the participants and the farewell speeches were delivered.

The host prepared a nice farewell dinner for the guests, with local dishes and music.

All visiting teams departed on September 19th,  2015.

FOURTH DAY OF WORK- FIGHTING AGAINST STEREOTYPES

The fourth day of the Project Meeting in Lithuania was dedicated to planning the next project meetings, especially the one to take place in Carsamba (Turkey), in October 2015. We discussed about the activities to be done with the students until the meeting and what to do once in Carsamba.

The project teams decided upon the following activities:

1.PowerPoint presentations about the traditional costumes worn in each project country; the presentations would be used as a basis for creating a booklet on traditional fashion in Romania, Turkey, Portugal and Lithuania.

2.PowerPoint presentations and videos about the social characteristics of the project countries. 

3.Final draft of the multi-lingual dictionary.

4. Turkish language classes to be attended in Turkey.

5.Gather more information on Turkey with the help of multimedia.

Various aspects of the intellectual output were reviewed and new information was added. 

THIRD DAY OF WORK- VISITING THE MAYOR

The third day (September, 16th, 2015) of our Project Meeting in Lithuania was a very special one, because it gave us the opportunity to meet the administrative officials of the host city.

We visited certain parts of the city hall and the administrative staff explained us the development of Siauliai, after the fall of The Soviet Union. We found out that Siauliai is a modern city which has much to offer to its inhabitants.

The second half of the working day was dedicated to the intellectual output. Each team presented the work done on the following chapters: introduction, review of national and international literature on stereotypes and analysis of the stereotypes questionnaire. The project partners analysed each other’s work and traced the steps to be followed next.

Time was also spent on planning the next project meetings and the sub-topics for each of the following meetings; an utmost attention was given to the students’ mobilities and to the activities to be done during the October meeting in Carsamba.

The day ended with a long tour around Siauliai, during which the hosts explained the myths and the legends associated with “The Sun City”.

SECOND DAY OF WORK -UNDERSTANDING LITHUANIA

The second day of the third Project Meeting was dedicated to understanding more about Lithuania, its culture, traditions and history. The host team showed its visitors interesting and colorful presentations, which revealed various aspects of the Lithuanian society.

The presentations were analysed and the discussion moved forward to the image that the Romanian, Portuguese and Turkish people have about Lithuania.  

Each team presented the specific activities done at a school level in order to overcome the stereotypes identified during the first stage of our project. 

The intellectual output was also brought into discussion during the afternoon work session. The discussion focused around the problems that the partners encountered while performing the research work or when analysing the results of the questionnaires.

The second day ended with a short, but pleasant tour around the parks of Siauliai.

FIRST DAY OF WORK- A WARM WELCOME TO LITHUANIA

The third Project Meeting took place in the picturesques city of Siauliai (Lithuania) between September 14th 2015 and September 18th 2015.

The project teams from Romania, Portugal and Turkey arrived in the city of Siauliai, in the late-afternoon of the previous day (September 13th, 2015). 

The morning of the 14th of September 2015 was a very pleasant one for the visitors, who were welcomed in a kind manner by the students, teachers and teaching staff of the Lithuanian Sports School.

At 10 o’clock sharp, the project teams arrived at the Siauliai Sports Secondary School. The School Mascot was waiting for the guests at the entrance together with two beautiful students, wearing the traditional Lithuanian attire. The girls welcomed the visitors with black bread and salt – a symbol of the Lithuanian hospitality.

The host project team accompanied the other teams while visiting the school and its premises. The teachers and the teaching staff from Romania, Turkey and Portugal had the opportunity to see modern equipped classrooms, school corridors filled with pictures and students’ works and variuos facilities designed to help students feel better while studying at Siauliai Sports Secondary School (e.g. Sports Hall and cafeteria).

The school principal greeted the visiting partners and wished everybody a fruitful work session and a pleasant stay in Lithuania.

All project teams went to the classroom which the guests had previously arranged for the project meeting. It was a pleasant and furitful work session during which were discussed the following aspects: activities to be unfolded during the stay in Lithuanian and a short analysis of the daily schedule proposed by the hosting team.
