Samsun is a city located on the north coast of Turkey. It is inhabited by over 500.000 people and it is the capital of the Samsun Province. It is also an important Black Sea harbour.
The city is growing at an incredible speed. It has got two universities, several hospitals, shopping centers, factories and sports facilities. The city has a mixed economy with a cluster of medical industries.
The Turkish War of Independence began here in 1919.
